Emberion Transforms Precision Thermography and Laser Beam Profiling with Its SWIR Cameras
Espoo, Finland — 4.12.2024. Emberion, a leading innovator in quantum dot based shortwave infrared (SWIR) sensing technology, is introducing a major upgrade to its Emberion VS20 GigE product series by introducing optical power measurement capability into its camera firmware during 2025. This novel set of features will provide capabilities needed for precision optical measurements, offering unparalleled solutions for laser beam profiling and non-contact temperature sensing.
Transforming Precision Thermography
The enhanced cameras excel in non-contact temperature sensing, leveraging optical power detection to determine thermal profiles with exceptional accuracy. The specific advantage of SWIR in high temperature measurement is the capability to see through ordinary glass windows enabling easy protection of the camera in high-temperature or otherwise hostile environments as opposed e.g. to LWIR that requires significantly more complicated protection enclosures. Typical deployment domains where this brings a significant benefit are e.g. metal or glass foundries.
Enabling Laser Beam Profiling
Emberion’s new optical power measurement capability allows for accurate and detailed profiling of laser beams across a range of applications, from industrial manufacturing to scientific research. This innovation supports a wide spectrum of wavelengths, offering flexibility for diverse use cases, including laser system calibration, quality assurance, and development of advanced photonic devices. Emberion cameras’ wide spectral range from 400 nm to 2000 nm combined with non-saturating behaviour of the sensor forms a unique set of performance for laser beam profiling. Alongside with the camera firmware upgrade Emberion will introduce also some critical sensor hardware upgrades that ensure the performance in the domain.
